THE LANDING

Off-Broadway opening: October 3rd, 2013

Directed by Walter Bobbie - Book by Greg Pierce - Lyrics by Greg Pierce - Choreography by Josh Rhodes - Orchestrations by Larry Hochman

Cast: Julia Murney, David Hyde Pierce, Frankie Seratch, Paul Anthony Stewart

The plot: "This musical consists of three tales: "The first of them, “Andra,” is the most classic, one of those coming-of-age accounts conventionally described as bittersweet. In this version, Noah (Frankie Seratch), a lonely and precocious little boy, is introduced to the wonders of astronomy by a solicitous carpenter (Paul Anthony Stewart), who is doing installations for the boy’s parents, a never-seen financier father and an order-obsessed mother (Julia Murney).
In “The Brick,” the second show on the bill, young Darius (Mr. Seratch), visiting relatives in the green hills of Connecticut, is introduced to the gritty black-and-white world of old gangster movies by his film-buff aunt (Ms. Murney), who is bored and restless in the time-honored manner of fictional suburban wives. She gets to cut loose, though, in a sequence choreographed by Josh Rhodes that riffs drolly on Balanchine’s “Slaughter on Tenth Avenue.” (She is partnered impeccably by David Hyde Pierce.)
And in the title segment, the show’s most poignant, the adoption of a too-perfect boy (Mr. Seratch) by two gay men (Mr. Pierce and Mr. Stewart) becomes a mystical contemplation on the ephemerality of love." in The New York Times by Ben Brantley
